Let’s get to know each other
Welcome, My name is Carlise
I believe art is therapy! Having been a classical singer and a photographer for many years, I've always found the arts to be a source of pride, a way to connect with others, and a way to reconnect to myself. My workshop studio in Florida, NY allows me to bring people together to learn, share ideas, and most importantly be creative. This journey has brought me so much joy. It has taken me so far and I cannot wait to see what the future holds as I continue to grow and expand my presence in the world of fine art. I hope I get to meet you!

creating keeps me sane
Felting and meditative art is my jam
Bio: My professional background is extensive. I come from the corporate world holding positions in General Management, Human Resources, and Customer Service. In 2003, I left that world to welcome my daughter. In 2005, I found photography. In 2008 I became a New York Institute of Photography Professional Studies Graduate. Soon after I joined the wedding, newborn, portrait, fitness and boudoir industry as a professional photographer. I ran that business successfully for over 13 years.
My art education led me to being mentored under Ken Goshen at the Goshen Art Academy in NYC, the New Masters Academy, Tracey Turner, felt artist and Louise De Masi, watercolorist. My own experience and my formal fine art background led me to begin teaching, which grew and expanded over the years to include felting, watercolor, paper quilling and meditative art.
I am currently the adult art teacher at Orange-Ulster Boces Adult Continuing Education in Goshen NY, and regularly travel throughout the region as a teaching artist at Adams School of Art at Hammond Museum, NY Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck NY, Bronxville Adult School, Garrison Art Center and many local libraries.

5 years of History at the Atelier
In 2021 Hudson Valley Atelier was created as a source to share knowledge gained over the years. It started with one teacher (Carlise Azmitia) teaching classical art, macrame and felting in a small flea market style studio in Middletown, NY. In 2022, Hudson Valley Atelier traveled the craft fair markets until another studio space was established in 2023 in the Village of Florida, NY. In March 2025 the Atelier brought on its first visiting teaching artist, Rebecca Bratt. In order for Rebecca to teach her near sold out workshop the Atelier needed to expand. After the expansion Hudson Valley Atelier welcomed a few more visiting artists including jewelry, paper, mosaic and fiber art instructors. The rapid growth of workshop opportunities led the Atelier to seek a more visible local for its students. In 2026 lease was signed to take over a prominent storefront location in Florida, NY. This location will enable the Atelier to grow and expand its opportunities once again. Allowing the history of Hudson Valley Atelier to continue to write its story!
